Zarina: Atlas of her world
American artist of Indian origin Zarina Hashmi (born 1937) is best known for her prints and sculptures, in which the visual language of abstraction and minimalism is combined with constant interaction with the themes of memory, space and loss. For her more than fifty-year career, Zarina (who prefers to be mentioned only by name) has created an extensive collection of works influenced by her early study of mathematics and a constant interest in the history of art and architecture.

"Atlas of her world"consists of thirty prints, sculptures and collages, from the 1960s to the present day. The exhibition will be the first to present Zarina's works along with other works of art and objects - spanning cultures and centuries - that served as a guide for throughout her career, among them - an engraving by Albrecht Durer, a drawing by Kazimir Malevich, as well as an architectural fragment of India of the Mughal era, which Zarina synthesized in her own unique practice.
