Place and Space in American Art
Native North Americans have a deep and complex relationship with the nature of their native land. Aspects of these multifaceted relationships are depicted by indigenous artists in a variety of styles, from realistic to abstract, as they illustrate the natural and cultural landscape of their homeland.

Representing traditional territories or new settlements caused by forced migration, thesepaintings and prints give an idea of how the indigenous people see their constant interaction with the land on which they live, revealing the beauty, drama or simple visual pleasure that artists find in their environment.
