Odessa Museum of Western and Oriental Art presents an exhibition Oleg Sokolov. The exhibition includes works from the collection of the museum and private collections. The author is an iconic figure both in the history of the museum itself, where he worked for many years, and for the whole artistic process in Odessa. His work and life is mentioned in the context of the socio-cultural environment of Odessa from the 1960s to the 1980s. The artist was an experimenter.
Oleg Sokolov was born in 1919 in Odessa. Training in art school was interrupted by the war. He continued his studies at the Lviv Art Institute, and after demobilization he returned to Odessa, where he graduated from an art school. He worked as an artist at the Odessa Automobile Assembly Plant, in the Odessa Association of Artists. He died in 1990. The works are in numerous private collections in the country and abroad - the USA, Japan, Israel, etc.
