About the exhibition
State Russian Museum presents the exhibition of Fedor Konyukhov. This is the first exhibition of the famous traveler, who presents him as a professional artist.

Fedor Filippovich Konyukhov (1951) - Soviet and Russian traveler, writer, artist. He made five voyages around the world, 17 times crossed the Atlantic, and once in a rowing boat.

The exhibition features more than fifty paintings and drawings created over the past three decades. Works performed in various techniques - the result of numerous journeys, where the polar ice, the waters of the world's oceans and mountain peaks became the impetus for the emergence of monumental compositions and free pictorial interpretations.

The exhibition covers the main stages of the Konyukhov path - from the early, largely autobiographical picture “The Red Man” (1979) to the works of the 2000–2010s. Among the exhibits of the exhibition are narrative paintings and portraits, animalistic motifs and free landscape improvisations, marked by the conventionality of the pictorial solution and sometimes to pure abstraction. In recent years, Fyodor Konyukhov turns to the iconography of Christian plots and images.

The exhibition also shows a documentary specially created by the Russian Museum dedicated to the art of the artist Fyodor Konyukhov, in which he himself will tell about his creative quest.
