Kete Kollwitz. Becoming
The Art Gallery of Ontario hosts Kete Kolwitz exhibitionBecoming ". This is 170 prints, drawings and sculptures of the artist, donated to the museum in 2015 by Dr. Brian McCrind. This is one of the largest collections of works by Kollwitz outside of Germany.

Kete Kolwitz (1867–1945) is recognized as a strong voice at the junction of art and activism. When opportunities for women were extremely limited, she fought for their rights and improved living conditions for the poor; became the first woman elected to the Berlin Academy of Arts. Over the five decades of her career, Kolwitz has developed powerful and emotional images based on her own experience and communication with working class women in Berlin. The exhibition offers a rare look at its early prints and drawings, leading to the Weavers Uprising, its first major print series.
