For America: paintings from the National Academy of Design
Dayton Art Institute was the venue for this major mobile Exhibitions, organized by the American Federation of Arts and the National Academy of Design. Founded in 1825, the National Academy of Design (known simply as the National Academy) has long been the leading artistic voice in America as a society, school, and museum of honorary artists. This exhibition of 100 paintings by 78 artists tells the story of the National Academy from the 19th to the 21st century.

The exhibition includes works of some of the most recognizable names in American art: Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Maxfield Parrish, William Merritt Chase, North Carolina and Andrew Wyeth, Thomas Eakins, Robert Henry, Ernest Blumensine, Isabel Bishop, Richard Esthes, Peter Saul and many others.
