Marcel Duchamp. 100 questions, 100 answers
There are several artists whose unusual works have changed our perception of art. One of them is Marcel Duchamp. He boldly declared everyday objects to be works of art, revolutionized and paved the way for a whole generation of conceptual artists. To this day, his original ideas have not lost their relevance, and continue to challenge us. For the first time, the Stuttgart State Gallery provided its exhibition spaces for retrospective of this extraordinary creator.

Original items from the museum’s collection are displayed along with important exhibits taken on credit, such as the author’s copy of the Bride Naked by Two Bachelors.

The exhibition is complemented by a unique archive of Duchamp, which for several decades collected the Swiss artist and researcher Serge Staufffer. The exhibition presents “100 questions” of Stauffer, which he put to Duchamp in 1960 during their correspondence. Duchamp's “100 Answers” offers important information about the artist’s intellectual and creative practice and testifies to the depth of Stauffer's exceptional research.
