Judy Watson. Boundaries of memory
The Art Gallery of New South Wales presents a solo exhibition of Judy Watson’s works entitled “Boundaries of memory". The exhibition consists of paintings, prints and drawings. The whisper of the past is central to the work of the artist. Her works play an important role in highlighting aspects of Australian history.

The works of Judy Watson have their origins in the tradition of Vaanyi culture. In her canvases she conveys poetic abstractions using different materials - varnishes, ink, pastels and dry pigments, and sometimes bark, shells or earth. Unexpected effects permeate her work. This is reminiscent of the process of geological formation of the Earth, reflecting, thus, the “dream time” unfinished in the origin of the physical and spiritual world of the aborigines.

Judy Watson was born in Queensland in 1959. Being the winner of the 1995 Moët & Chandon scholarship, she moved to France and began exhibiting in Paris. Her works are in different galleries of the world.
