The Roerich Museum (branch of the State Museum of Oriental art), Moscow, Moscow

The Roerich Museum (a branch of the State Museum of the East) was created in February 2016 by decision of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. With its creation, the long-standing desire of Svyatoslav Nikolaevich Roerich to convey the heritage of the Roerich family to the entire people of the USSR, the successor of which is modern Russia, is fulfilled.

The museum has many tasks, among which the main ones are the preservation and presentation of the diverse artistic, cultural and philosophical heritage of the Roerich family.

The museum’s collection includes more than 800 paintings and drawings of Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerich and his son Svyatoslav Nikolaevich Roerich, a large collection of works of various kinds of decorative art from Russia, India, China, Tibet, Mongolia, Egypt and other countries, memorial items of the Roerich family.

The museum keeps an extensive archival fund of the literary heritage of the entire Roerich family, as well as documents on the life and work of these remarkable people, including materials from numerous Roerich institutions and organizations.
