The Tate Britain is an art museum in London, the world's largest collection of British art from 1500 to the present. It was founded by industrialist Sir Henry Tate. Now part of the Tate Museum Group. The gallery opened on July 21, 1897 and was supervised by the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery. The collection was based on Tate's personal collection.
