Robert Falk from private collections

Exhibition March 2 − April 15, 2018
KGallery presents the exhibition «Robert Falk from private collections». Exhibited at the exhibition paintings cover different periods of the author. Some works are exhibited for the first time.

Robert Rafailovich Falk is a Russian painter of Jewish origin, who uniquely combined the paths of Russian modern and avant-garde in his work.

During his long creative career, Falk resorted to a significant number of artistic methods: in his first works he felt a strong passion for the Impressionists, then he leaned toward both primitive and cubistic forms, was under a certain influence of Cezanne. But gradually, after much experience, the artist developed his own unique painting style - fine work with light, complex muted tones, and a little blurry dramatic images.

For a long time, the artist, until his death, was in disgrace with the state, was in actual oblivion and existed mainly thanks to the help of friends. And only a few decades later subtle translucent watercolors, brooding portraits and dense Parisian landscapes returned to their deserved places in museums and galleries.

Now works by Robert Falk are estimated at millions of pounds.

The exhibition shows 35 paintings from the collection. KGalleryand private collections in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Among them are Samarkand landscapes of the late 1930-1940s, Parisian landscapes of the 1920s and 1930s, portraits and still lifes.
