Valery Lamakh. Starting point

Exhibition September 10 − October 10, 2019
As part of the UU # Kyiv project, which is supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, an exhibition of Valery Lamakh’s works is being held in the hall of the Dukat auction houseStarting point". The exhibition presents works of the 1950-1960s from family gatherings and private collections, most of the works are exhibited for the first time.

Among Ukrainian artists of the “thaw” generation, the author was one of the first who turned to the practice of abstract painting. In his works, the master used various formal techniques characteristic of traditional European modernism of the first half of the twentieth century. This practice was a definite search for our own figurative-artistic system and had an impact on the formation of philosophical and aesthetic thought, which is fully represented by the artist’s main work - The Book of Schemes.

Valery Lamakh (1925-1978) was born in the Sumy region. Graduated from Kiev State Art Institute. He participated in republican, union and international exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR since 1956. He worked as a monumental artist. The famous Ukrainian composer V. Silvestrov dedicated the work “Forest Music” to the memory of V. Lamakh (1978).
