Ann Fujima: Synchronous Space

At the exhibition "Synchronous space“moments of synchronicity are considered - a term first coined by Carl Jung as a way of determining meaningful coincidences. What causes these events is inexplicable, but some describe them as a religious phenomenon, signs of the universe, paranormal activity, or a subconscious connection. Often these tangible experiences are connected by unrelated thoughts. , objects and energy in such a way as to create a deep meaningful experience.

In Ann Fujima’s paintings, the ethereal lines and shapes that shift and disappear from focus, apparently bubbled from the surface below, create a sense of depth within the paintings. These movements visualize these moments of synchronicity for Fujima in a way that reflects the inner, energetic, emotional world that such experiences create.
