Essence of Duchamp

In the art gallery of New South Wales, an exhibition "Essence of Duchamp". This is the most extensive review of creativity and life of Marcel Duchamp, ever held in the Asia-Pacific region. The exhibition includes approximately 125 works from the world famous Duchamp collection and archives at the Philadelphia Art Museum. This major exhibition gives viewers an informative and comprehensive view of one of the most original and influential artists of the 20th century.

The exhibition presents such landmark works as “Nude descending the stairs (No. 2)” in 1912, which shocked the American audience when it was exhibited in the New York Arsenal in 1913, as well as “Fountain 1950” .

The international tour was made possible by the Terra American Art Foundation. The exhibition is shown at the Tokyo National Museum in Japan, at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Seoul and at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
