Nicholas Bayer. Patrick Kuta. Sculptures

Exhibition November 16, 2018 − February 24, 2019
Gallery CHOI & LAGER presents an exhibition of two Canadian sculptors: Nicholas Bayer and Patrick Kuta.

Nicholas bayer
Although science has shifted our collective faith from religious to empirical, Bayer's works remind us that our understanding of the universe remains imperfect, held back by personal prejudices and instincts. His latest engravings and sculptures use the latest technology.

Bayer's works are rich in data and research, precision and erudition, but it is his seductive aesthetics that gives viewers the greatest sense of confidence, confirming our mistaken logic by falsely confirming our desires.

Patrick Kuta
Working with various materials, Patrick Kutu explores the subtle patterns that underlie organic matter. His bronze and aluminum sculptures are created on his computer, their forms are forged by various programs that he develops, their digital origins mimic the orderly chaos of plant and mineral life.

Kuta sculptures resemble such elements of the natural world as reefs, gardens and striped rocks. If you look through the prism of technology, the pixel elements of which they consist, make you think about the chemistry and zeros of the digital realm.
