Graduated from KhGF UGPI, works as a teacher in Votkinsk. Member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation. Among the students of Lev Grigorievich Kostylev, who worked with children all his life, teaching them the basics of painting, there are many famous people. Among them is UdSU professor, artist Sergey Orlov. The artist has devoted more than 30 years to teaching fine arts to children. “Write not with colors, but with your soul” - this phrase became the main one in the content of his work, and he taught his pupils the same. Somehow explaining the laws of composition, Lev Grigorievich brought a poster to the class where a landscape was drawn, and a strict horizontal line was signed "LG", - recalls one of the artist's students. - This is the horizon line, the artist explained. We giggled quietly that LG is Lev Grigorievich ... But over the years, it became clear that he was the very line of the horizon that opened up for us the whole breadth and magic of art ... Kostylev is in love with watercolor like a girl, half a century faithful only to her. However, the entire exposition is imbued with love for this city. Works are in private collections and museums.
