Biography and information

He studied at the Berlin Academy of arts and Eduard Holbein, and then, in the years 1847-49, was improved in Rome. In 1861 he visited Egypt to produce studies and sketches for the work: "Construction of pyramids". In 1873 he was in the Crimea. In 1856, the painting: "the Resurrection of Jairus's daughter," in which he proved himself a great colourist. This work was one of the first realistic attempts to interpret biblical stories and because, despite some of the theatrics of his songs, was a great success. In the same 1856 Richter. put the first portrait of his work, at once brought him the reputation of a first-class portraitist.
