Studied at P. Minghetti in the School of arts of Reggio Emilia. From 1847 he moved to Turin. In 1848 took part in the events of the Risorgimento in Turin and Milan, emigrated to Switzerland. In 1856 traveled to Italy. Ser. 1850s visited France. Italian painter, engraver. He was born February 23, 1818. Studied Antonio Fontanesi, Minghetti in the School of arts of Reggio Emilia. In 1847, the artist moved to Turin. In 1848 Antonio Fontanesi participated in the events of the Risorgimento in Turin and Milan, emigrated to Switzerland, where he worked in Lugano (1848-1850) and Geneva (1850), under the influence A. of Kalam. In the mid-1850s Antonio Fontanesi visited France, met Corot, Daubigny, masters of the Barbizon school. From 1861 he lived in Florence, having become acquainted with the masters of the "School macchiaioli". Paintings early 1860-ies, executed by the artist in the manner of plein air painting macchiaioli: "Mill" (Turin, City gallery), "Sunset on the Arno" (Florence, Pitti gallery), more truthfully and directly convey the views of the outskirts of Florence. In 1870 Antonio Fontanesi returned to the manner of the tonal landscape. In the film "April" (1873), "At", "Autumn in Delfinato" (Turin, City gallery), "Clouds" (Turin, private collection) recreated lyrical landscape motifs seen by the artist in the moments of the summer evening light, overcast autumn day or a full spring awakening of nature. His landscapes Fontanesi translated into etching and lithography. In 1868 he taught at Lucca, and from 1869 he headed the Department of landscape painting in the Academy Albertina of Turin. He painted landscapes, was engaged in etching and lithography. A graphics artist has influenced the works of many Italian masters the 2nd half of the 19th century, in particular Civico Giovanni Fattori. Died Antonio Fontanesi 17 APR 1882.
