Boris Oshkukov, "BIG GAME" abstract sculpture

Виставка 7 лютого − 7 березня 2023
The whole visible world is woven of play: the Game of Senses, the Game of Minds, the Game of Natural Processes. Play is everywhere--visible and invisible, a game that never ends, that merely flows from one form to another.
The artist Boris Oshkukov was a master of abstract images, the very ones that are part of the game, the Big Game, the one called life. He considered his works to be part of the subconscious world, which managed to be embodied in our reality.
One can draw endless parallels between the artist's work and common images, especially his sculptures and reliefs made of wood. This is also folk art - spinning wheels, bottoms, toys. These are also natural creatures - the structures of the micro world, images of individual creatures, geological formations. These are also architectural structures - modern, futuristic, from the past.
However, the most memorable images bring us closer to the game pieces - the chess components, here and the queen, officer, pawn, and king - a whole world with its own rules, allowing us to create our own Game.
