Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya

Barcelona, Spain, Palau Nacional, Parc de Montjuïc
The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya is a museum in Barcelona, created in 1990 as a result of combining the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Art of Catalonia. The novels collection is considered one of the most complete in the world. Its basis is formed by a unique department of Romanesque frescoes. The core of the museum’s Gothic collection is Catalan easel painting and sculpture. Baroque and Renaissance art is represented by significant works of art of the XVI-XVIII centuries and not only Catalan. The collection of Art Nouveau combines the famous works of Catalan art of the XIX and the first half of the XX centuries. A series of the museum’s exposition passes through various directions of this period, starting from neoclassicism and realism, bypassing modernism and nousentism and ending with avant-garde art.
