Description of the artwork «Narcissus in love with his own reflection. Sketch»

Youth Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection in the Creek — so punished by his gods for what he has rejected the love of the nymph Echo. Miniature composite sketch (14,5X14 cm) depicts the moment when Narcissus leaning over the water with an unexpected excitement to notice my reflection, and accomplished the verdict of the gods. Strokes of light outlines the Rubens landscape, a magnificent athletic figure, flowing folds of pink tissue. The artist shows us a beautiful world of fairy tales — not so much ancient, how much of its own Rubenesque. With all the fluency he writes quite clearly and accurately, to his sketch could work another large painting for the Torre de La Parada, who is now in Madrid's Prado Museum, was performed not by him but by Jan Cassiram.
