MASK OF THE COMEDY

Mask Comedy took part in the IHF exhibition "All the World is Theater!" in November-December 2021, timed to coincide with the festival "Theatrical Muscovite

The mask, as we know, along with costume, theatrical technique, and some other attributes of dramatic action, was central among the stage techniques established in ancient Greek theater. Most sources indicate that the masks were of cloth impregnated with plaster and leather, because of which no original has survived to our time. But we do have an idea of what ancient actors looked like, thanks to the fact that the ancient Greeks decorated their homes with clay copies of theatrical masks and depicted them in various other works of art.

The mask is painted in bronze and gold, and it shimmers at different angles.

Painting is painted on canvas on the stretcher 40x50x2cm, covered with varnish. The work is signed on the front side and also comes with the author's certificate. It has a velvet back fastener - ready for hanging.
