Descriptif de la toile «С. Д.»

This abstract is dedicated to Spanish painter, graphic artist, sculptor, sculptor, filmmaker and writer Salvador Dali. Specifically the painting "Meditative Rose".
In the early period, Dalí was fond of the currents of Cubism and Dadaism. Later the artist wrote then in the style of oppressive surrealism (because of the premonition of war), then optimistic. Soon Salvador Dalí firmly established his surrealist style with academic precision.
"Meditative Rose" is a very concise work. Given Dali's fascination with Eastern philosophy, we can conclude that this work is about beginning, discovery and diving into the depths of the self.
The artist had a weakness for images of the grasshopper, ants, bread, hair, keys and the telephone. Dalí himself referred to his technique as hand-photography of concrete irrationality. It was based, he said, on associations and interpretations of unrelated phenomena. Surprisingly enough, the artist himself noted that he did not understand all of his images.
Salvador Dali often went to sleep with a key in his hand. Sitting on a chair, he would fall asleep with the heavy key clamped between his fingers. Gradually, his grip loosened, the key fell and hit a plate lying on the floor. The thoughts that emerged during his slumber could be new ideas or solutions to complex problems.
As the artist himself said: "Surrealism is not a party, not a label, but a unique state of mind, not constrained by slogans or morality. Surrealism is the complete freedom of the human being and the right to dream. I am not a surrealist, I am surrealism!"
