Completed work on the painting "Museum Gulen". The time period of the painting process covered more than thirty years. The subject began to write, studying at the first courses of the Ryazan Art School named after G.K. Wagner. At that time our teacher was the Honored Artist of Russia Viktor Vasilyevich Korsakov. He taught composition lessons and set the students the task of painting a picture of the interior of the Ryazan State Regional Art Museum named after I.P. Pozhalostin. I.P. Pozhalostin.
I made several sketches of the museum halls from life with a group of my classmates. Later I came up with the idea of depicting the museum at night. I painted a picture and showed it to the teachers of the Ryazan Art School. Victor Vasilyevich, having seen it, gave me the highest grade at the viewing, saying to the teachers and students: "Akindinov is the best composer in the school". That was the end of the first stage of work on the painting. At that time I did not think that I would return to work on "Midnight at the Museum" (the first title of the painting). The canvas had been hanging on the wall in my studio all this time. Over three decades, the old stretcher had shriveled in size. Craquelure appeared on the painting.
I returned to the canvas in 2022, restored it - I sewed up the edges of the canvas, stretched it on a new stretcher and introduced a child into the composition - I took my childhood photo from the family album. I covered the entire surface of the subject with small ornaments painted by hand with the finest brush. I recreated the picture in the style of ornamentalism I invented in 1996. I diversified the composition with light curtains fluttering in the wind on the windows. In the story I supplemented the halls of the museum with paintings that turned out to be like mirrors and portholes, they are like portals to parallel worlds, and the boy is a mysterious traveler in the multidimensionality of space and time, the discoverer of new universes.
In reality, the painting is presented for the first time at the reporting Regional collective art exhibition "VESNA-2024" in the Exhibition Hall of the Ryazan State Regional Art Museum named after I.P. Pozhalostin. I.P. Pozhalostin. The opening took place on May 18 at 16.00. The vernissage presented 185 works of 98 authors, 54 of which are members of the Union of Artists of Russia and other creative organizations of Ryazan and Moscow. The exposition included such kinds of art as: painting, graphics, icons, folk and decorative-applied art. By an interesting coincidence, the opening of the exhibition fell on the International Museum Day. The theme of my painting "Museum Gulen" just coincides with this holiday. The exhibition is held at the address Ryazan, 112 Esenina St., and will last until June 16.
