Agnes Pelton: Desert Transcendentalist
Agnes Pelton (1881–1961) was a symbolic seer who portrayed the spiritual reality that she experienced in moments of meditative silence. Art for her was the discipline by which she shaped her vision of higher consciousness in the universe. Using an abstract dictionary of curvilinear, biomorphic forms and subtle, flickering curtains of light, she portrayed her awareness of the world that is hidden behind physical phenomena - a world of benevolent, ethereal energies that enliven and protect life.

ThisExhibitionof the approximately forty-five works is presented to the public by a little-known artist, whose bright, abstract images of transcendence are only now fully recognized.
