Paula Wilson: Tangled
Paula Wilson’s work combines multimedia and multicultural links to create extravagant pictures, prints and videos that are both realistic and contrived. The dense layering of color, image, pattern and material acts as a visual metaphor for a complex layer of stories and cultures. In a style characterized by narration, bold color and pattern, her works often depict interactions between figures and very detailed scenes of the natural environment. Her theme is multifaceted and draws inspiration from real and invented cultural histories and identities that explore myths, race and sexuality.

Shattering the distance between art and life, "Tangled"embraces an anthropomorphic worldview in which nature and human life are embodied and reflected. Monumental silhouettes, decorated with rich graphic material, keep invisible forces of nature in action.
