Basquiat – untitled

Exhibition March 21 − August 13, 2018
It is rare when one picture is worthy of a separate exhibition. But such a move is fully justified if this painting is the work of a famous American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, which was recently sold at auction for 110,5 million dollars, and before that 30 years have never been exhibited.

The Seattle art Museum, in the framework of the international tour, presents the exhibition of one painting "Basquiat – untitled". This is the second exhibition of the tour, before the picture has been in Brooklyn Museum. After Seattle, the picture will go to Europe.

Picture for the exhibition were provided by a Japanese collector of Yusaku Maezawa who bought it last year at auction "Sotheby's".

This work was written by Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1982. The exhibition provides an opportunity to consider the friendly relations between the author, who was 21 when he wrote it, and Andy Warhol, one of the major figures of pop art.

After the end of the world tour, the picture will be placed in the Museum of Yusaku Maezawa creates in his hometown of Chiba, Japan.
