The girl in the spotlight

The Mauritshuis Museum in the Hague is conducting an in-depth study of the main masterpiece in its collection – portrait "Girl with a pearl earring" by Jan Vermeer. The study is open to the public. Especially for this in the Golden hall of the Mauritshuis equipped Studio with a glass window. The project was called "The girl in the spotlight".
An international team of experts will work 24 hours a day. As part of the multimedia presentation restorer and chief curator of the Museum Abby VanDiver using video will explain what is happening in the workshop.
The last time the "Dutch Mona Lisa", written in approximately 1665 – 1667 years, were subjected to careful study in 1994 during a large-scale restoration. Although the recovery is not yet required, for the last 25 years, non-invasive (i.e. not requiring the violations layer) analysis methods have advanced significantly. So scientists hope to learn more about how Vermeer wrote "Girl with a pearl earring" and what materials are used.
Mauritshuis prevents that from 26 February to 11 March, while research will be conducted, the picture will be inaccessible for viewing. Instead, it will display high-tech 3D projection, which can be photographed. But on March 12, "the Girl with a pearl earring" will return to its place in the hall No. 15. Meanwhile, scientists will continue to analyze the data and publish the results only upon completion of all works.
