Sorolla and fashion

The house-Museum of Joaquin Sorolla, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum presented the exhibition "Sorolla and fashion» that works simultaneously in both institutions.

The exhibition includes about 70 paintings borrowed from museums and private collections in Spain and abroad. Some of them still have not been exhibited in public. The paintings are complemented with the selection of clothing and accessories of the period.

Joaquin Sorolla, who was interested in fashion, was the perfect chronicler of the changes in models and styles of clothes in the late XIX – early XX centuries. His works are a rich catalog of dresses, jewelry and accessories that written free, dynamic strokes.

In the exhibition pays special attention to beautiful women's portraits, made between 1890 and 1920.
