A world created anew

Exhibition November 16, 2020 − April 11, 2021
The Serpukhov History and Art Museum with the support of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and major regional museums presents a project "A world created anew"dedicated to the Russian art culture of the late XIX - early XX centuries - a difficult period that shaped the world view of Russian art.

Visitors will see 87 masterpieces from 7 museums in the country. More than 20 prominent names - Vrubel, Konchalovsky, Goncharova, Korovin, Serebryakova, Kustodiev, Larionov, Burliuk, Yuon and over 10 artistic directions - impressionism, symbolism, cubism, suprematism, abstractionism and others, will present in one museum a special world of artists who worked about centuries ago.

Artists and poets, more keenly than others, had a presentiment of the coming changes and began to search for new opportunities and forms to reflect reality.

The exposition space is divided into seven thematic sections from primordial chaos to the world mastered and changed by man. Today humanity continues to actively transform the world around it, which inevitably entails consequences that one way or another will have to think about.
