New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Presents Exhibition Project “Felix Feneon. Anarchy and avant-garde: from Signac to Matisse ".
Visitors will see the works of young avant-garde artists, whose work was loved and defended by fellow critics Felix Feneon: Georges Pierre Seurat, Paul Signac, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse and others.
Who was Felix Feneon? The exposition is dedicated to this extremely influential but little-known figure and explores her influence on the development of modernism. An ardent anarchist at a time of great economic and social inequality, Feneon believed in the potential of avant-garde art to create a more harmonious and egalitarian world. French art critic, editor, publisher, merchant and collector, Felix Feneon (1861–1944) was inspired by the painting of young avant-garde artists, collected works of art and promoted the careers of artists.
