American Art: From Indigenous Peoples to 21st Century Authors

The Brooklyn Museum and the Luce Center for American Art present a large exhibition “American Art: From Indigenous Peoples to 21st Century Authors".

Visitors will see works by Gilbert Stewart, Albert Bierstadt, the Herter brothers, Constance Peck Beaty, Lois Milo Jones, as well as samples of sculpture, ceramics, furniture, and arts and crafts.

The extensive exhibition is divided into sections grouped by time period and related themes, including The First Peoples of America (4000 BC - 1521 AD), From Colonies to States (including Colonial Period in America, 1660–1776 ”and“ The Early Republic, 1776–1830), Introducing the New Landscape of the Nation (1800–1880), Visions and Myths of the Nation (Including Life in the Northeast and Expansion to the West, 1800–1890), Divided Nations (1860-1910)), the United States on the world stage (1865-1930), The City and the Growth of a Modern Woman (1900-1945) and Beyond Borders and Borders (XX and XXI centuries).
