Child in Swiss Art: from Agassa to Hodler

The Geneva Museum of Art and History hosts an exhibition"Child in Swiss Art: from Agassa to Hodler".

The exhibition traces the history of the depiction of children in Swiss art between 1830 and 1920 and provides a fresh look at the museum's pictorial collection.

From the 18th century, the child began to be considered in society as a single and personal whole. This applies to the realm of social, moral and political issues. His needs, his characteristics, his education, his health, his hygiene become the subject of reflections of philosophers, biologists and doctors and the object of pictorial and sculptural images.
