Gala. Dali. Dior. Art and fashion

Exhibition March 14, 2020 − January 6, 2021
Gala and Salvador Dali Foundation holds an exhibitionGala. Dali. Dior. Art and Fashion ".

The exposition tells the fascinating story of Salvador Dali's relationship with the world of design and fashion throughout his life. The artist's paintings presented at the exhibition are thematically intertwined with the works of Dior and documentary materials from the collection of the foundation.

Gala and Salvador Dali's first contacts with Dior took place in Paris in the early 1930s, when the artist, with Gala's decisive help, tried to make a name for himself in the capital of art. On February 12, 1947, Christian Dior revolutionized women's fashion and aesthetics with his first New Look collection. The couturier took its rightful place in the world of fashion design and broke the rules of haute couture, as Salvador Dali did with painting many years ago. Gala, considered one of the most influential muses of the 20th century, quickly saw Dior's style as an opportunity to create and embellish her own image. Following the designer's ideas, she showed a taste for fashion in all her public appearances, revealing a modern and sophisticated style. This can be seen in the Dior ensembles from her personal collection, which she wore at various events and opening days, accompanied by Dali.
