Magnus Enkel at the Athenaeum

Exhibition October 23, 2020 − January 24, 2021
The Ateneum Art Museum is preparing a large retrospective exhibition of the most iconic Finnish symbolistMagnus Enkel (1870-1925).

For the first time, the exhibition will include the maximum number of paintings and graphic works by the artist: portraits, landscapes, religious and mythological subjects.

Visitors will be able to see the transformation of styles and genres in Enkel’s paintings - early naturalism, ascetic and almost “drawing” minimalism, deep and mystical symbolism, vivid post-impressionism. Magnus Enkell is recognized as one of the key artists of the golden age of Finnish art at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, who for a short life left the world of art a huge creative legacy.
