Zenith Underground

Exhibition March 5 − April 5, 2020
DiDi Gallery presents an exhibition of works by leading artists of the second wave of the avant-garde"Zenith of the Underground".

The exposition is eclectic and includes the works of Moscow and Leningrad nonconformists, abstractionists and primitivists. It contains both abstract paintings, graphics and sculptures of the leaders of the older generation of underground, as well as the work of modern authors.

Among the exhibits are a large-format canvas by the leader of the older generation of the Soviet underground Yevgeny Mikhnov-Voitenko, created in 1960, and graphic works from the Tube series, which is part of the author’s “golden fund”. The exhibition presents the work of Vladlen Gavrilchik, Mikhail Kulakov, Leonid Borisov, Sergey Kovalsky, Evgeny Rukhin, Dmitry Krasnopevtsev and many other outstanding artists.

They created their own, independent aesthetics, their creative search was free, despite the state ideology and power. Many of them were united by spiritualism, which then had a very strong revolutionary potential.
