Toulouse-Lautrec and the starry culture of Paris

Welcome to Montmartre, a remote Paris quarter known for its cabaret and dance halls, where vibrant nightlife exploded at the end of the 19th century. Among the artists, performers and ambitious entrepreneurs who called this bohemian quarter home was the artist and engraver Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who made a career depicting the most striking personalities of this quarter.

ExhibitionIncludes posters, paintings and drafts. Through advanced experiments in lithography, Lautrec emphasized the distinctive features of singers and dancers such as Jane Avril, Aristide Bruant and May Milton. Despite the fact that he helped make a career for many celebrities, Lautrec himself became a kind of celebrity thanks to the popularity of his posters and paintings, distinguished by their unusual style and unconventional materials and techniques.
