Nicholas Roerich. From the collection of the State Russian Museum

Yaroslavl art Museum presents the exhibition "Nicholas Roerich. From the collection of the State Russian Museum". At the exhibition visitors will see paintings and drawings from the collection of the State Russian Museum, created by one of the greatest masters of Russian painting of the late XIX – first half of the twentieth century.

Konstantinovich Nikolai Roerich Russian artist, designer, philosopher and mystic, writer, traveler, archeologist, public figure, academician of the Imperial Academy of arts. Creative heritage of the artist is huge: over seven thousand works, including paintings, drawings, archaeological and ethnographic objects from expeditions, sketches for theatrical productions, literary works on religious-moral, philosophical, and cultural topics.

The exhibition in the Yaroslavl art Museum consists of fifty works of the artist belonging The state Russian Museum. It is divided into three sections: works written prior to 1917 the homeland, theatrical works of Roerich and the works created in India in 1930-1940-ies. Works of different years, not only reflect the different stages of the master, but also display a remarkable stylistic integrity of his works.
