Masha Tregubenko. "Do not go far"

Exhibition January 20 − February 10, 2020
Gallery "Union of Printers" invites you to visit the exhibition of Maria Tregubenko“Do not go far”.

The exhibition features paintings by the author.

In the works of Mary, a wide expressive brushstroke is combined with the geometricity of the silhouettes, and this dialectic of form makes even native landscapes difficult to recognize. St. Petersburg, under the brush of the artist, seems to be cleansed of the signs of any of the past eras and shows its timeless face, these canvases are a kind of morphology of the northern capital. Among those who influenced her work the most, the artist names Shinkareva and Yashka, although she herself is quite far from the bright surreal naive that Mitki became famous for. The affinity for them with Tregubenko is of a worldview character, rooted in the circle of Alexander Arefiev and consisting primarily in the psychogeographic mode of perception of the city. Petersburg in these works is both material and the very method of writing, reminiscent of several generations of the Leningrad art school.
