Jacob jordans

Exhibition October 3, 2020 − February 21, 2021
The Frans Hals Museum presents the exhibition "Jacob jordans".

Rembrandt, Vermeer and Frans Hals are the heroes of the painting of the Northern Netherlands. In the south of the Netherlands there is a big three: Rubens, Van Dyck and Jordaens.

Jacob Jordaens is the least known and studied representative of this illustrious baroque trio. His life and creative methods demonstrate striking parallels with the life of Frans Hals.

The works of Jordaens, like the works of Hals, are characterized by life whirlpools, personality and stubbornness. Jordaan painted not only portraits, but also great historical paintings and genre scenes. Many of the works were taken on credit from private collections and have not previously been made publicly available.
