Exhibition "Contemporary art on stage”Includes more than 120 items from Tobin’s famous theater collection, collected by Robert Tobin, who recognized and defended theatrical art as visual.
Contemporary artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Fernand Leger, Natalia Goncharova, Joan Miró, Robert Indiana, Louise Nevelson, Robert Wilson and David Hockney have collaborated with inspirational and thought-provoking writers, musicians and dancers of their time.
In the 1970s and 80s, American artists and sculptors, influenced by the performance of the 1960s, positioned the United States on the world stage of innovative theater design. Dynamic directors and leading opera companies have defined this era by inviting contemporary artists to create new and classic works.
