Trellis of the 19th – 20th centuries in the Hermitage collection

Exhibition September 18, 2019 − January 12, 2020
The State Hermitage Museum in the Exhibition Halls of Modern holds an exhibition “Tapestries of the 19th – 20th Centuries in the Hermitage Collection”.

As part of the exhibition, visitors can see 20 exhibits representing the European trellis weaving of such areas as historicism, modernism and modernism.

The Hermitage for the first time shows an extensive collection of trellises of the 19th – 20th centuries, in which the works of French masters predominate. The viewer will see many of them for the first time or after a long break. Some of them entered the museum from the collection of the imperial house and decorated the Winter Palace, others from Russian private collections. In recent decades, carpets of interest to the museum have been acquired, including the first “Glitter of Fire” trellis in the Hermitage’s collection.
