Tayanna Buey. Engraving photos

Exhibition May 4 − September 22, 2019
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art Presents "Tayanna Buey. Engraving photos".

Buoy, who draws inspiration from the meager family photos from her youth, translates these captured moments into large-scale print portraits and installations. She embeds various elements in her engravings, such as pieces of clothing, jewelry, hair accessories, adding layers and density, which serve as artistic memories of her family history.

From photographs to prints, collages and porcelain, Buey's exhibition turns her memories into something more textured and dimensional. Thanks to his work, Buey pays tribute to his story, physically evoking in her past an optimistic look into the future.
