El camino del oro

Exhibition September 14, 2019 − January 4, 2020
One of the oldest paintings exhibited dates back to 1886. This is a picture of Alexander Harmer (1856-1925), depicting the front courtyard of the Mission of San Juan Capistrano. What is now one of the most beautiful gardens in California was then a dry, dusty courtyard, with a few geraniums on the pillars of the arcade.

Also onexhibition presents a majestic scene of three Californian vakero and their dogs herding a small herd of cattle. The painting was painted by William Khan (1829-1887) in 1883 during a ranch in California (1821-1846). Other works that can be seen include works by renowned Californian artists Elson S. Clark (1876-1949), Alice Kutts (1879-1973), Edwin Dickin (1838-1923), Alexander Edward (1818-1892), William Fox Judson ( 1842-1928), Joseph Kleich (1882-1931), Evelyn McCormick (1862-1948), Manuel Valencia (1856-1935) and William Wendt (1865-1946).
