Portraits of Gauguin

Exhibition October 7, 2019 − January 26, 2020
Exhibition "Portraits of Gauguin"shows how a French artist revolutionized a portrait.

By adding carefully selected attributes or placing a nanny in an inspiring context, Gauguin could make portraits that expressed meaning outside their personalities. For example, a self-portrait group shows how Gauguin created a series of personifications, including his own image “Christ in the Olive Garden”, 1889.

The exhibition features about fifty works: paintings, works on paper and three-dimensional objects from various media.
