Michael Kagan: I was there when it happened

Exhibition September 21, 2019 − February 16, 2020
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Virginia (MOCA) will present the first personal museum exhibition of the artist Mikhail Kagan.

Exhibition "Michael Kagan: I was there when it happened», Combining the key pictures of the past decade and new works, reflects the artist's lifelong interest in technology, space and innovation.

The works of Kagan speak about the intersection of contrasts. He draws powerful strokes that seem chaotic, but designed to form cohesive, realistic images when viewed from a distance. After applying Kagan does not change its smear. This commitment to the original application symbolizes the seriousness of the choices and mistakes in its storylines of space exploration.

Using NASA photographs as source material, Kagan’s paintings have a cinematic quality. They note the tension between humanity and technology, the limitations and victories of man and the knowledge that a mistake in this desire for victory can lead to a tragic sacrifice.
