Recent acquisitions: Toyin Oji Odutol

Exhibition June 15 − December 8, 2019
Toyin Oji Dudutol creates intimate portraits that disturb the general personality traits and explore the human form as a landscape. At the beginning of her career, she developed a unique method of marking with a ballpoint pen, which gives her skin a richly textured and literally black appearance. The artist said that with the help of this technique, she seeks to emphasize “the specifics of blackness, where subjectivity, various realities and human experiences can be included in the diverse topography of the epidermis”.
