Gallery Blum & Poe is pleased to present a personal exhibition of paintings by New York artist March Avery.
The exhibition is a collection of works covering more than five decades, and is the first extensive personal presentation of the artist in New York over the past twenty years.
Focusing on portraiture and landscape and focusing on still life, a selection of works in the exhibition changes the life moments passed through the paint, applied to the canvas. Mothers read bedtime stories; children have breakfast, sit on their knees and play Chinese checkers; clouds hover over a gray-blue lake; and potted plants are placed among children's toys or depicted in paintings hung behind a sofa, in which a young woman leans back in the company of a cat. These day tendencies that characterize Avery's work embody a lifelong commitment to the painting process itself.
