Eric Fischl: Life Complications

Exhibition June 19 − August 30, 2019
For more than four decades, Eric Fischl created uncompromising images of American society, visible through the prism of the ailments of the middle and upper classes. Figures usually divide the space on his canvases, but their views are rare; even when they do this through composition, posture and gesture, they are trapped in the midst of intense exchanges, which in turn encourage the viewer to explore his or her own relationships and sense of self.

The exhibition includes a series of recent works on water: views of the pools, oceans and on the lake provide settings for images of aspiration, desire, frivolity and longing.
