Raymond Girke. Silent balance

Exhibition June 15 − September 28, 2019
The Axel Vervoordt Gallery in Hong Kong presents the Raimund Gierke exhibitionSilent balance". The project is based on monochrome paintings created over the past two decades. They demonstrate the results of the master's lifelong passion for the analysis of color layers, color movement and structure. Dynamic compositions are played with certain principles, such as parallel layers of color in separate strokes of paint and mesh sequential structures.

Raimund Girke was born in 1930 in Heinzendorf. His family was deported in 1946 and settled in the vicinity of Osnabrück. He studied at the School of Decorative and Applied Arts Hanover and attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts. Between 1966 and 1971, Girke taught in Hanover. He lived and worked in Cologne and Berlin, died in 2002. Works of the artist are in the state collections of Germany and other countries.
